Dryden Early College Academy

The Dryden Early College Academy (DECA) is an exciting program for high school students who want to get a jumpstart on their college education and their careers. In this three-year, career-focused program, students participate in an integrated sequence of high school and college courses with no out-of-pocket cost for books, fees and tuition.

Dryden Early College Academy consists of:

  • Early Entrance – 9-11th grade students enter a college program while still in high school.
  • Early Exit – Students may complete the program with an associate’s degree in three years (grades 11, 12, and 13) or transfer their credits to a university.
  • Early Success – Students completing the program are poised to move ahead of a traditional schedule toward degrees or technical certificates that match the students’ chosen career pathways.

Student and parent information sessions are held in January. Applications must be submitted in February by application deadline for consideration.

Advantages of Early Admission

There are many advantages to starting college while still in high school, including:

  • Save $$$ – For those who are paying their own way, Macomb’s tuition is a quarter of the cost compared to that at a public four-year college or university.
  • Save time – Getting a jump-start on college credit means a student will finish their degree sooner!
  • Gain experience – Moving from high school to college is a big step. Easing their way into college by taking classes as a high school student makes the transition much easier.
